Dear Team G Foundation Supporters,
We have had an amazing year and owe it to you, our faithful supporters. This past year was an inaugural year for Team G Foundation. It actually was less than a year ago in April 2012, where our foundation was founded and in this short amount of time, we have made great strides. We couldn’t be more proud and humbled for all of your dedication to this organization.
This past year, Gabriella or “G”, the daughter of founders Kristin and Adam Cosner finally ended a year of grueling cancer treatments including radiation, chemotherapy, and multiple surgeries. Her last treatment was February 7th with the end of treatment scans in March. Luckily, those scans proved that all of the treatment was successful. But every 3 months this past year, they have held their breaths during scans and prayed that G’s cancer was not coming back. Kristin and Adam knew that this fight wasn’t going to end with those clear scans in March and knew there would be much recovering still to come. They also knew that there are many more parents out there who wouldn’t be as lucky and wouldn’t have their child at the end of the journey. Claudia and Diego, parent’s of Angel Tianna experienced this when they lost their daughter a short time ago to the same cancer as Gabriella. Tianna, who is our honorary “T” in Team G, reached out to Gabriella and her family in order to provide support. Their families have since bonded and have helped launch Team G Childhood Cancer Foundation into action with an inaugural Family Festival on July 7th in dedication of Tianna and Gabriella in hopes that we CAN and WILL make a difference for children and families battling childhood cancer.
Our mission is of two parts. The first is providing direct support to newly diagnosed childhood cancer families. It was formed based on our experiences being newly diagnoses parents and being catapulted into an upside down world having to learn to navigate the system physically and emotionally. We created the Hope Tote in hopes that this little gift from someone unknown would bring some comfort to devastated parents. WIth access to medical information through a series of childhood cancer guide books, resources to similar pediatric cancer organizations, toiletries and hospital snacks packed into a tote bag for future hospital visits; these parents will know they are not alone on this journey. The second part of our mission is to fund childhood cancer research. With the alarming fact that childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children and less than 4% of government funding is directed towards all 12 major types of pediatric cancer in order to find new and improved therapies contributes to this sobering statistic, we knew that something more needed to be done. We are making headway and narrowing in on our researching mission to start funding four of the top pediatric cancer institutions on the west coast including Seattle Children’s Hospital, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. We are excited about the prospective relationships with these top pediatric cancer centers and are making strides for great accomplishments for childhood cancer research. As a foundation, we want to especially take the chance to acknowledge our supporters and our contributors this past year. The following is a list of supporters who have made research and general donations.

We’ve had many highlights from the past year (or 8 months) but the one that stands out in my mind is our first Team G Ambassador, Bill Sylvester who fought for gold with his incredible Border to Border ride. Bill, a 56 year old retired firefighter from Santa Clara County, inspired by Gabriella and the families journey through childhood cancer decided he was going on an epic adventure and would ride from the border of Canada to the border of Mexico….on a bicycle! On the way, he spread awareness about childhood cancer and Team G Foundation….and raised over $13,000! Below is a list of donors we wanted to make sure and acknowledge because you are THAT important to us!
Of course, a special thank you to Jeff, Jules and Ella Schwerdtfeger for the special fundraiser for Bill on the San Francisco Bay during September, which brought in over $7,000 (included in the 13,000) for the ride.

Team G’s Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Bake Sale. As our organization was founded, it was important to continue our fundraising efforts for those organizations that we love and that share similar missions as ours, including Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. This past year, we raised over $9,000 with $7,503 going to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and the rest going to our Hope Totes. WIth the OXO matching program, we raised over $15,000 for pediatric cancer research! Adding this total to our bake sale in 2012, that’s over $40,000 we’ve raised! Here is a link to the Good Cookies blog which talks about the grants they’ve been able to fund. Thank you to all Good Cookies everywhere! Below is a list of volunteers, bakers and donors who contributed to this event. And a special thanks to Cara Pearson of Pacific Cookie Company for everything you have done to help and Michelle Riddle for all of your inspiration!

Since our beginnings only 8 months ago, Team G Foundations has been able to send off 240 Hope Totes to 20 different pediatric cancer centers nationwide! The feedback from our totes has been nothing but positive from our social workers. We will continue to provide these totes quarterly to our social workers around the nation to deliver to newly diagnosed cancer parents.
“The totes are wonderful! You have included all the essentials and that personal touch that make it that more valuable.” – Tovah from Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
“The totes are fantastic and of great value.” – Norma from UCLA.
“Totes are phenomenal!” – Miriam from Arnold Palmer in Florida.
“You thought of everything that is needed for a hospital stay and most important education material.” – Heather from Boston Children’s Hospital.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and made it possible to send out our totes!

This coming year holds much anticipation and we are very excited about the upcoming prospects for Team G Foundation. We will continue on our mission of funding pediatric cancer research and supporting families newly diagnosed with childhood cancer. With the arrival of our 501(c)3, we are more than thrilled about the opportunities this will bring and will continue to work hard to make a difference. As always, thank you for caring about our children and continuing the efforts to fight childhood cancer!
Warm regards,
Kristin and Adam Cosner, Founders.
Bridget and Gabriella, co-founders.
