March 2019 ~ While I continue to pursue my dream position as a Pediatric Oncology NP, I’ve picked up some days as an RN at the Bass Center, working on the inpatient floor where my daughter was treated and working with those amazing nurses who cared so wonderfully for her (and us). It’s taken longer than I expected to find what I have been looking for but I continue to be patient and persistent. I know I want to be at Lucile Packard, Stanford Children’s and I know I want to be in Pedi Oncology. I’m trusting my journey and following my heart. I am SO excited and honored to be part of the Stanford/Packard family. Plus, I get to learn bedside pedi onc from some of the best nurses around! ~ Kristin Cosner, RN, MSN, CPNP-AC, Founder

July 2019 ~ Today, I got to see a little patient ring the final chemo bell that Team G donated last September to the oncology department (my new work home) at Lucile Packard-Stanford Childrens. I shed some tears and definitely could have let a lot more out. It was amazing. Really amazing.
I have so much admiration and respect for the nurses, doctors and staff that I work with. I’ve aways have had respect for professionals in my field but somehow, this is different. Today, and for the rest of my career, I get to work alongside incredible people who not only chose to work with children, but helped my daughter through her treatment and become a survivor. These individuals chose their passion to help children fight cancer. For me, it can’t get more honorable than that.
I also got to be there for a family starting their journey. A child who is in the process of being diagnosed with cancer. I got to tell them “I’ve been there”…I’ve traveled this journey. They asked me how old my daughter is now. I got to tell them….”She’s 11”. The sigh of relief and the fulfillment of hope was palpable.
I am forever grateful to these individuals who I have the honor of calling my colleagues….nursing assistances, nurses, nurse practitioners, doctors, social workers, child life specialists….each and every one of them.
